Taking the Leap...

For as long as I can remember I have been entranced with how the use of a camera, at the right moment, can capture a small piece of history frozen in time forever. It fascinated me that as memories begin to fade, these well preserved moments of joy don't. You know the moments I'm taking about, your first day of school standing proudly with siblings outside your parents house with a beaming smile from ear to ear, opening Christmas presents in front of the tree while it's still dark outside, or the classic children falling asleep in their dinner photograph.

I am so fortunate to have such a large and support family, I can always remember photographs being a large part of my family. My Great Grandad would always carry a camera around and I would watch as he prepared his camera and then wait for the perfect moment of the family laughing and joking, while he stayed in the background watching everything unfold. Often family didn't realise he had even taken their picture.

In many ways, I have a lot to thank Great Grandad Haase for igniting a passion for photography in me.

Some people may ask, why start this business now? My honest answer would be that the last 12 months have been very difficult for my family and I with many high and low points. We have had three close family members pass away in an 11 month period, which was very unexpected. It has taught me that life is far too short to take for granted and live without doing something that you are truly passionate about...

Which is when i introduce my new adventure, Rebecca May Photography. A photography company that is committed to capturing all the moments in life that may otherwise go unnoticed or become a faded memory. I'm so excited to offer wedding & engagement services as well as newborn, baby and children photography sessions in my home studio.

This is such an exciting time for me and I endeavour to share this journey with you, each step of the way.
