Welcome to 2025!
Can you believe it? Another year gone in the blink of an eye, and here we are in 2025! It feels like just yesterday I was wondering where I left my coffee while one of my little ones painted the wall with yogurt. Ah, motherhood—and business ownership, am I right? But seriously, a new year always feels like a fresh start, a chance to dream big and set exciting goals. After the whirlwind that was 2024 (spoiler: it was amazing!), I’m so ready to dive into whatever 2025 has in store.
Reflection Time
If there’s one thing I’ve learned over the years, it’s that January is a great time for a little reflection. And trust me, I don’t just mean reflecting on the state of my washing pile (although, let’s be honest, it’s an ongoing battle). One of the most touching compliments I received last year was that people booked me not just for my photography but for ME—my outgoing personality and how I connect with people so quickly. Honestly, that means the world to me because connection is everything in this business.
But here’s the thing: while my clients clearly see my personality in real life, I realised that my website and social media didn’t really reflect who I am. I mean, where was the banter? The stories? The quirks that make me, well, me? That’s something I knew I had to change this year.
Enter Irina, the Headshot Hero
To kick off this personality overhaul, I reached out to a fabulous photographer friend of mine, Irina. She’s one of those people who instantly puts you at ease, and I knew she’d be perfect to help capture the real, authentic me (awkwardness and all). From the moment she sent over her information, I felt like I was in safe hands. And let’s face it, even photographers need someone they can trust to make them feel comfortable in front of the camera.
The morning of the session was such a blast. Before we even picked up a camera, we took some time to map out the vision. Irina asked me questions about my business that really got me thinking. It was refreshing to have that space to focus on where I want my business to go this year.
Posing: The Struggle is Real
Now, let me tell you, for someone who spends her life capturing other people’s most beautiful moments, I am a terrible poser. Seriously, if “awkwardly standing around” was a sport, I’d have a gold medal. But Irina was a total pro. She had me laughing, dancing (yes, there was a playlist involved—music is non-negotiable), and feeling totally at ease. She even gave me some incredible tips on how to pose, which I may or may not steal for my next wedding shoot.
And you know what? Being on the other side of the camera was a revelation. It reminded me just how vulnerable it can feel to be photographed. It’s something I’ll carry with me as I continue to help my clients feel confident and comfortable during their sessions.
The Results
When I saw the final photos, I was blown away. They’re not just pictures—they’re me. They reflect the authentic, sometimes messy, always passionate person behind the lens. And I couldn’t be happier with them.
So here’s to a new year filled with authenticity, creativity, and a bit of controlled chaos (because let’s face it, with three kids, chaos is inevitable). If you’re thinking about booking me this year, just know that you’re getting the real deal—bad jokes, cheesy dance moves, and all. I can’t wait to capture your memories and make some new ones of my own.
Here’s to 2025. Let’s make it a good one!
